How to Choose an AI Photography Studio in India

How to Choose an AI Photography Studio in India

In short

  • Ask for full-resolution work, not thumbnails — problems hide at small sizes.
  • Rights should be assigned, not licensed for a term.
  • A studio that never declines a job is not exercising judgement.
  • A free sample on your own product is the only reliable test.

Anyone can access the same generation tools. That makes the market noisy and makes evaluation harder, because the portfolio you are shown may represent the tool's ceiling rather than the studio's floor.

The eleven questions

  1. Can I see work at full resolution? Thumbnails hide everything. A studio confident in its review discipline will send full-size files without hesitation.
  2. Will you do a free sample on my product? The only test that matters. Curated portfolios tell you what went right once.
  3. Do I receive assignment of rights or a licence? Assignment, perpetual, all channels. Anything less is a future cost.
  4. How many revision rounds are included? At least one should be standard. Zero suggests a volume operation.
  5. What reference material do you need from me? A studio that asks for very little is not planning to be faithful to your actual product.
  6. How do you handle text and logos on products? The right answer is compositing from the reference. "The AI handles it" is the wrong answer.
  7. What do you check before delivery? Expect a specific list — hands, closures, shadow consistency — not "we review everything".
  8. What would you decline to do? The most revealing question. A studio that would take any brief has no standards to violate.
  9. Who does the art direction? If nobody is making lighting, palette and staging decisions before generation, you are buying prompt output.
  10. What formats and ratios do I receive? You should get every ratio you publish in, not one master to crop yourself.
  11. What happens if I need this look again in six months? Consistency across seasons is what makes a brand look like a brand.

Warning signs

  • A portfolio with no hands in any image — usually means hands are being avoided rather than solved
  • Reluctance to send full-resolution files
  • Rights described vaguely, or "you can use them however you like" without a contract
  • No questions asked about your brand before quoting
  • Pricing so low it cannot include human review time

What good looks like

A studio that asks about your customer before it asks about your budget. That wants three reference photos rather than one. That tells you when a traditional photograph would serve you better. And that will put a finished frame of your own product in front of you before asking for a commitment.

Comparing quotes that are not comparable

Two quotes for "20 images" can differ by a factor of four and both be honest, because they are describing different things. Normalise them by asking what is included:

Art directionNone; prompt outputDefined before generation

What a sample actually tells you

When you receive a free sample, resist judging it on whether it looks nice. Judge it on:

  • Fidelity. Is it recognisably your product, in the right proportions and colour?
  • Detail survival. Did the clasp, setting or stitch make it through intact?
  • Full-resolution integrity. Zoom to 100%. Thumbnails forgive everything.
  • Direction. Does it look like someone made choices, or like a default?

A sample that looks beautiful but is not quite your product tells you the studio will prioritise appearance over accuracy — which becomes your problem when a customer receives something different from the image.

Questions about working relationship, not just output

  • Who will I actually be talking to?
  • What is your turnaround when I have an urgent request?
  • Will you keep my reference library so future work is faster?
  • Can you match this look again in six months?
  • What happens if I am not happy with the revision?

Photography for a growing brand is a repeated transaction, not a single one. The studio that is slightly more expensive but keeps your library, remembers your look and answers on WhatsApp within the hour is usually cheaper over a year.

A fair warning about us

We are not the right choice if you need forensic documentation of individual unique pieces, if your entire proposition is a hand-craft detail that must be shown exactly, or if you need someone physically present at a location. We will say so on the first call rather than take the work and disappoint you.

That last one is our own standard — send one product photo on WhatsApp and you get one finished image back, free, no conditions. It is the fastest way for you to judge any studio, ours included.

Frequently asked

How do I know if an AI photography studio is any good?

Ask for a free sample using your own product, and view the result at full resolution. Portfolios are curated; a sample of your actual item is not. Check hands, closures and fine detail specifically.

What should AI product photography cost in India?

Substantially less than a traditional shoot, but not commodity pricing — you are paying for art direction and review discipline, which is where quality comes from. Be cautious of pricing so low it implies no human review, and of pricing at studio-shoot parity, which removes the point.

What questions should I ask before commissioning?

Rights assignment terms, revision policy, whether they will show full-resolution work, how many reference photos they need, and what they would decline to do. The last one tells you most.
